| Regional Entry-Level Institute Submitted by Joanne Goldwater, Associate Dean of Students/Director of Residence Life, St. Mary's College of Maryland The 12th Annual Regional Entry-Level Institute will be held June 3 – 5, 2009 at Westfield State College (Westfield , MA ). Please share this information with entry-level staff members (those with 0 – 3 years of full-time professional work experience) and encourage them to consider applying for this exciting professional development opportunity. Please see the links below for brochure and application information. RELI provides entry-level staff members who are interested in moving up the career ladder with needed information on seven competencies: Managing Multiple Priorities, Working with Diverse Students, Managing Change, Staff Supervision, Crisis Management, Campus Politics, and Accountability. Participants will be assigned to a faculty mentor with whom they work closely during the Institute. The cost of the Institute is $250 which includes lodging, meals, and supplies. MACUHO provides 10 scholarships ($100 each) to the first 10 applicants who are accepted into the Institute. Only 28 participants are accepted each year (approximately half from MACUHO and half from NEACUHO). Last year, we received almost 60 applications (from MACUHO & NEACUHO). When asked about their experience at RELI, past participants have said: “RELI provides SOMETHING SPECIAL a larger conference can’t give you.” “I’ve been challenged to think outside of my current role and SEE NEW PERSPECTIVES.” “It helped me think about my career and gain PRACTICAL SKILLS TO MOVE FORWARD.” “I LOOKED FORWARD TO THIS FOR MONTHS and was NOT disappointed.” “RELI was really a TRANSFORMING EXPERIENCE personally and professionally.” “CONNECTING with so many seasoned and new professionals was fantastic.” “Faculty were INSIGHTFUL, INSPIRING, HUMOROUS, CANDID…” “RELI offered a SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT that has prepared me for the NEXT STEP.” “I am REINVIGORATED AND REFOCUSED.” “The RELI experience was a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY.” The deadline for submitting application materials (the application form, written responses to two questions, a current copy of your resume, and a letter of support from your CHO) is March 1, 2009.
