Tag Idea: Jean Pockets

Do you
have an old pair of jeans that are so ripped and torn that they are
un-wearable? Well look at the back, don’t the pockets look like
the perfect size for a door tag? On that principle, I took about 15
pairs of old jeans that I either had laying around the house or ones
that I bought at Goodwill for cheap. All you have to do is cut out the
back pockets of the jeans, leaving it so that there is still the effect
of a pocket. The great thing about jean material is that you can write
on it with permanent marker or paint. I personally took puffy paint
and wrote each residents name on a pocket. Now the pockets are heavier
than the usual paper door tags so to make them stay on the door you
have to use a mounting tape or something along those lines. They are
also useful for more than just names on the door. On the first day of
move in I put a piece of candy and a note for all the residents. During
the rest of the semester I used it as a note drop and a way of leaving
surprises for my residents, they all loved them and most still have
them.
