Let My Floor Never Forget
Last year
I was a Floor Coordinator, which in my residence is an RA only you are
a 24/7 position, always there for the floor no matter what. January 11th
my friend a fellow FC was having a 'sex party' on her floor and invited
me. I told the floor I was escaping for the evening and away I went to
be educated on sex toys and fun games by a presenter, like Avon really.
My friend bought a board game and we went and played it, watched a movie
and talked for hours, and then I returned to my floor and residents who
had just returned from a tower party.
Well my
floor stood still on 1/11. The elevator doors opened and I was rushed
by a frantic intoxicated girl who spewed out this story. "Jodi, we
lost Jenn, Bets and Patty, they're drunk and have no keys
we saw
them like 3 hours ago." Jenn was due to leave for Australia the next
day so had no ID to get back into the rez, and no keys, and all three
have a penchant for getting lost on me. "Seth puked and is passed
out in the lounge." Fair enough. He still held a drink in hand and
refused to let it go. When I poked him with my foot he snored and moaned
so I put him in the recovery position and let him be.
"Greg
is passed out in his room. I checked and yep he was, mumbling that
I was his mom or something. "
And Dave fell down the stairs
and knocked out his teeth, and then pissed himself." I asked the
wet crotched 6'3" young man if this was true and he smiled a gap
toothed smile at me
mental note to take him to the emergency dentist
tomorrow. At this point my friend is pissing her pants in the vator, laughing
so hard shes doubled over. She leaves to go home just as the young
girl drops the bomb.
"And
since it is past midnight its Jim's birthday. We tried to sing to
him but the ambulance attendants wouldnt let us!" WHAT?! Oh
god I have a first year taken to the hospital with alcohol poisoning.
Luckily the university hospital is across the parking lot and I managed
to run there quite quickly. I finally located the young man and he mumbled
something about me not having to come. When I explained that on my birthday
if I ended up in the hospital I would want someone there he moaned that
I was the 'bestest FC ever' and then got sick again making me promise
to never tell his grandma.
The evils
of alcohol and absence of adequate supervision were shown. I had some
programming after this geared specifically towards responsible drinking
and things calmed down. It was a spontaneous party that got out of control
when "Mount Gay" brand rum was opened (a pirate made rum that
has a theme song and a website) and I wasnt there to calm things
down. Teach me to take a night off.
But all
in all things turned out okay. Everyone learned a valuable lesson and
Tim eventually got a new tooth, and Mike an ambulance bill. Let my floor
never forget.
