Safety
in Numbers
So I never
thought that my job as an RA could lead to possible harm to my well
being. Well it did but in the funniest way possible.
In early
October of the 2003-2004 school year I was involved in a complex situation
where I had to write up a few friends and their roommates for alcohol
on campus. Another RA from building and I were going to their room to
meet them and head to a dance club in town. We got to the room and things
seemed weird and then we found the alcohol. Oh well we were both second
year RA's we could handle this no problem. So we did and thought that
all was well until about 6 months later when I was at a local club a
very angry guy calling me every name under the sun approaches one night.
I look at him and ask him what his deal is. He then informs me of how
I wrote him up, about 6 months ago. He then informs me that he is going
to "POUND ME". Of course all of this for me doing my job,
and being a good employee. I guess this means I should go and pound
that cashier who shortchanged me last week. Well it was a good thing
I had some friends with me that night that told him to back off. They
happened to be a hall director and assistant hall director and the lieutenant
for public safety.
Funny
how residence lifers tend to stick together isn't it? So…that's
what happened. I think its hilarious, but a reminder to all of us of
the need to be careful when you go into your next situation. You could
be threatened at a later time.
