RA Stories: Ssshhh,
its the RA
On the Sunday
night of Labor Day weekend, during my first semester of being an RA, I
encountered what has remained to be my most amusing incident while being
an RA. As I came out of the bathroom at about 2:15am I happened to hear
a high level of noise coming from one of the rooms on my floor. I walked
down to where the room was and decided that I needed to put a stop to
all the noise.
After I
knocked on the door I could hear people inside the room whispering, Ssshhh,
its your RA, Quick, hide it, dump it out the window
or something, and so on and so forth. When the door was finally
opened, the first thing I noticed was that there were 15 people sitting
around the room, along with various beer cans that had been sloppily hidden.
I asked to see one of the residents out in the hallway, and after he stepped
through the door, the door was slammed and locked shut. After talking
with the resident, and instructing him as to what I wanted to take place,
he turned to go into his room, but it was still locked. He knocked on
the door pleading to be let in. Finally after about 2 minutes, the door
was finally opened.
Right away
I noticed that something was amiss. The room was now empty except for
the other roommate, and a friend of his. I stared into the room in disbelief,
peering into the shadows thinking that maybe everyone was hiding. Then
I noticed that the screen had been pulled out of the window, and the other
12 people had fled through the window and into the night. All I could
do was look at the roommates and say, Guys, I think this may have
just gotten a little bit worse.
So in light
of this situation I would say never let the door shut on a room full of
people, you never know where they might disappear.
