Mediation Training Module: Abstract and
Facilitator Information
Abstract:
This module provides information to support
and educate RAs involved in the challenging process of working with
students who are involved in roommate conflicts. Through this module
RAs will learn about the basic concepts and guidelines for mediating
roommate conflicts, and the skills they need to mediate roommate conflicts.
RAs will be provided with three different
approaches to mediating roommate conflicts.
Facilitator Information:
Bob Mosier has a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology
and worked for seven years as the Associate Director of the Counseling
Center at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. While at the University
of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, Bob worked in a split assignment
as an Assistant Professor where he taught in the Psychology Department
as an Assistant Professor of Psychology, where he instructing a Psychology
of Adjustment course that focused on conflict resolution and interpersonal
skills.
Bob worked in residential living since
1978 until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure he served as a
Residence Life Psychologist, an Associate Director of Residential Living,
and the Director of Residential Living.
Bob has had extensive experience working
with hall directors and RAs, providing training sessions and consulting
on mediation and conflict resolution issues.
